Interview with Ola Endress
1. What gets you out of bed in the morning i.e., What is your source of motivation?
Depending on what motivates me at the present time, there are many different reasons however they all come down to the same thing in the end and that is to make the most of the time that we have been given. I don’t like to waste any time of the day and I love making the most of everything I have (in this case time). So that is my number one motivation to get me out of bed.
At the moment I am currently travelling around the United States in a trailer, so my motivation is to see as many places as I can in the little time I have to explore the states as I am only here for a couple of months before my visa runs out and there is so much to see and experience!
2. What made you realize you would want to do this ?
I actually have an article coming out this weekend on this on my blog so I will try keep this as brief as possible. We have been told our whole lives to live a certain way and that is by going to school, getting a degree, make a family and paying bills or having debt until we die pretty much and I don’t for one second believe that is a way that any of us should be living especially if we are not passionate about what it is we are doing now. Time is something we cannot buy or are ever guaranteed and that is why it is so important to do the things you love now and not later.
3. Why should people choose you / your product / service ?
I try to inspire people as much as I can to live their lives to the fullest by motivating them and showing them it is possible to do whatever your heart desires. My blog www.1lifemakeitcount.com is predominantly travel based however as of this weekend I am writing short articles from my own life experiences and beliefs to motivate, to help you achieve anything you want. The first article I will be releasing is called “10 things to be ok with in your 30s”. I have gone through a lot in my life and so has everyone else, we all go through some hard times, however, people are so easy to give up hope and to give up on their dreams or their passions that I want to spark that interest back to show everyone, that is isn’t too late to do something. You really can achieve anything you want and I am so passionate about this topic because at one time in my life I gave into the norms of what society wants us to be doing but it really isn’t how we are supposed to be living.
4. What comes first for you, money or emotions?
Emotions, again I have another article coming out after the “10 things to be ok with in your 30s” based on what happiness money brings to you and honestly money can only do so much for you however only on the outside level. At the end of the day we are all going to face the same fate and what does it matter or point really, if you have all these expensive materialistic things but no real happiness or fullness on the inside?
5. Tell me about an accomplishment you are most proud of.
No one really talks about the hustle they always talk about the end product as being an accomplishment, where I think we really should be celebrating every little step we take towards our dreams. I am super proud of never giving up and giving it my all to my passions and goals. I have been acting for over 15 years and I moved to a new country last year with completely different living standards to what I have been used to, in order to fulfil my dreams. I am proud of hustling every day, making the little money I have last until the next pay cheque to then spend that little money that I should be “saving” on my dreams (classes, clothing for auditions, coaching and just basic living) and never giving up hope. I am doing this daily and trust me it is hard, it gets so hard sometimes that situations try and force you to give up BUT, I would rather be doing this then just settling for a secure, high paying job, waking up every day to the same day played out for the rest of my life. Without passion our souls have no purpose, why are we living if we don’t have a purpose inside of us to achieve everything it is that we want.
6. How do you handle the pressure?
I have always been someone who goes with the flow and let things happen as I believe everything happens for a reason. Stressing and getting angry over a high pressured situation or just any difficult situation isn’t really going to do anything in that moment but make it worse.
I always remain calm, breathe and just try to stay positive no matter what is being thrown my way. This year alone or hell even this month I have had things thrown at me where I could have just shut up shop and gone back home to Australia but I refuse to let a temporarily bad situation ruin what I am doing because so many people dream of what I am currently doing now their whole lives.
7. What advice would you give to someone starting out ?
Just start and just do it by going all in! Have faith in yourself and that you are capable of doing anything!
If you are at that point in your life where you are feeling lost, you have no desire to get out of bed in the morning then I really urge you to look at your current situation. If it is a job you don’t like, find what it is you really want to be doing and just do it.
Take the risk, no matter what it will always pay off one way or the other. I took the risk to leave everything behind in Australia to chase my dreams and even though I haven’t landed a role overseas (YET), I have accomplished so much in the time I have been away and the biggest thing I’ve learnt is what I am capable of doing and it is a hell of a lot compared to the person I was back in Australia. I am so proud of what I have achieved so far and if I knock on wood, I was to die tomorrow I know I have lived a life full of dreams, passion and a life lived to the fullest.
8. What it is you do exactly ?
I am an actor and travel blogger. I was living in Vancouver full time to audition as much as I could however after paying expensive rent to live in an apartment the size of a shoe box and barely scraping by I decided that I still want to chase my dreams of being an actor but just not under these circumstances. I strongly believe if you are not happy with your situation, you should change it. I wasn’t happy as I was really struggling and I wanted to make the most of my time overseas as I love travelling. So my partner and I got a travel trailer and have been travelling the entire US coastline (it works out less than paying rent and instead of paying rent, the money is being used to travel and see so many sights of the US!) and will continue to do this while I audition right from our trailer! (You should see my audition set up its quite hilarious, you would have never guessed that my auditions were being filmed in a trailer!). You can achieve anything you want and if something isn’t working out or making you happy (in this example my living situation) then change the way you look at things and try a different way.
